"Everyone fits in, at the Green Tile Tango Club.”
A fun, entertaining story about the power of community as told by the characters who frequent the Green Tile Tango club. Their intertwining stories come to life through quick costume changes, fun, passionate storytelling, and a smorgasbord of original music and Tango dancing , crossed with fun sing-a-longs and French Cabaret to Boot!
Sam gets his story, Jack gets his lesson, Esta and Michele find love and we all belt out, ‘Forget About Pierre!’ to help Jaquie reinvent herself. A visual and aural musical storytelling sing-a-long feast, with live musicians/singers and Tango dancers.
International Singer Songwriter Jen de Ness is a highly skilled, soulful performer who gives her all at every show, be it outdoor concerts with thousands of festival goers or intimate jazz and cabaret clubs Jen "knows how to entertain an audience" (Crazy Coqs London) and from the moment this "accomplished performer" steps on stage her "distinct style is soothing and has the audience relaxing into the comfortable atmosphere she creates."(Glam Adelaide).
In Green Tile Tango Jen is joined by fellow composer/guitarist Bill Atkinson, whose, “superb guitar work and vocal harmonies” (Broadway World Review) and “skilful playing and complimentary harmonies” (Glam Adelaide) helps “bring the stories to life as Jen inhabits her exotic characters… through attraction, passion and betrayal, all to the rhythm of the tango!” (Adelaide Theatre Guide) Jen and Bill first locked eyes in 1992 over the recording of Jen’s debut single at ABC Radio Perth (where Bill was Senior Music Producer/ Sound Tech for 12 years, recording numerous local and International Orchestras, jazz bands and original artists.) Jen and Bill began producing and writing songs together in 1996 and have been performing, writing, recording and producing original music and shows together ever since.
Previous performances have received rave reviews in London and Nationally including Broadway World Review who concluded it to be “Top Quality Cabaret!" with " excellent song writing, magnificent singing and storytelling and very fine guitar playing." Weekend Notes WA noted that while “the sold-out crowd was lapping it up and even getting involved in the deliberately tongue-in-cheek ‘audience participation’ moments” that there was also a “beautiful original composition which evoked gorgeous, romantic carousel vibes.” . Australian Theatre Guide described their performance as "both polished and intimate", Glam Adelaide gave Jen's Nexus Show 4.5 Stars and Pheasantry Club in London said Jen is a “tour de force” and that her performance with her London jazz musicians, was "sultry, scintillating, and completely mesmerising."
